When a child is absent from school the reason for that absence is required by law. Please telephone the school office on the first morning of your child’s absence. If you do not do this the school secretary will contact you.  On your child's return to school, please complete an absence form, copies of which can be found on this website under the tab; News/Forms.  The form should be given to the classteacher or school office. We have to record a reason for every absence in the class register and provide numbers to the Government.

Holidays during term time are not permitted. If you take your child on holiday you may be liable to a fixed penalty. If you need to take your child out of school for other reasons please complete a ‘Leave of Absence’ request form. These are available from the office. Please complete the request form prior to taking your child out of school.

Being on time for school is essential to allow your child to make the best possible progress. I’m sure we’ve all experienced the feeling of arriving late for something and having to creep in after it has started. It is enough to make any of us feel anxious! Your child is no different which is why it is so important that they arrive at school on time. Not being on time in the morning also means that lessons may have started and important information is being missed. The school doors open at 8.40am. Registers are taken promptly at 8.50am.

Prompt collection at the end of the day is also important. Waiting after everyone else has been collected causes anxiety and sometimes distress. The end of the school is 3.10pm. It is essential that you are there on time to collect your child.

If you are late...

Keeping us updated of your situation is important. If you think you are going to be late either at the beginning or the end of the school day please phone and let us know. We can advise your child’s teacher & reassure your child that you are on your way. The exterior doors are on a self-locking mechanism that closes at 9.00am. After this you need to come in to the school through the main school entrance. The office staff will sign your child in before you’re able to take them down to class. After 9.15am your child will be recorded as absent. If your child is late on more than 5 occasions (either in the morning or afternoon) I will write to you asking you to make an appointment to come and talk to me about the situation.

With thanks to all the families who always arrive at school on time and collect their children promptly.
